Welcome

Kellyn LaCour-Conant is a two-spirit daughter of the Cane River Creole community raised in Houston, Texas on Ishak land. She holds over 15 years of experience in public service, science communication, restoration ecology, and community organizing. This page is a glimpse into her work.

Kellyn has worked across public, private, and nonprofit sectors, and serves on several boards and advisory committees advancing coastal research, environmental education, climate justice, and community development. She is an alumna of AmeriCorps and the Student Conservation Association, was selected to be an If/Then Ambassador by the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2019, and tapped as an Emerging Leader by Interfaith America in 2022. With BAs in Biology and Russian from Amherst College, and an MS in Marine and Environmental Biology from Nicholls State, Kellyn is currently a PhD Candidate in Urban Forestry at Southern University focused on traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) and federal forest policy.
